Ok, it’s settled. Matt Bucher is going to coordinate a group read of 2666 over at his Bolano blog, as announced here. If Infinite Summer spins up in the mean time, he plans to defer to that venerable program’s schedule and such, but since so many are eager to get started, Matt’s stepping up. If you want to blog your read here, please leave a comment. The first milestone is January 25, so you’ve got time yet to get the book and read the first section.

Joan, great. I’ve added you to the new about page, but the copy probably needs tweaking, as it’s Dracula-specific. I’ll apply my own edits soon unless you send your preferred edits to me. Don’t suppose your IS veteran friend is articulate and interested in writing here?

I’ve been waiting for the group read for months–ever since discovering I missed the opportunity to reread Infinite Jest with you all last summer. If you have enough bloggers and are only looking for repeat writers, that’s cool! But if you are interested in including, say, a youngish editorial assistant who works with children’s books and has a sincere love of books (including Infinite Jest), I may be the one you’ve been searching for. š

I have a question… do the dates in the schedule refer to the date we begin reading or end reading the relevant section? Also, we have a week to read each section. Do we have to wait for that section to end to begin blogging?
Sorry for what are probably silly questions, but I’ve never done this before. š
Ariel, in order to line up with convention defined in the first and second installments of Infinite Summer, let’s plan on ending reading on the given date. And let’s honor the spoiler line for each milestone; that is, if something spoily happens beyond the page count for the current date, try to avoid going into detail about it or, at the very least, make sure you announce way in advance that there’s going to be a spoiler. Not silly questions at all.
Having deferred active participation in Infinite Summer, I’m happy/nervous/determined to join in this time.
